Kyla Woodward is a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Washington School of Nursing. Her research focuses on nursing workforce outcomes including turnover or retention and the wellbeing of nurses and other clinicians. Dr. Woodward’s recent research examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on nurses in the US, using mixed methods to highlight the contextual factors affecting nurses’ ability to work during the pandemic and how the experiences of nurses of color influenced their thoughts about the nursing profession. Her work emphasizes the dynamic and changing contexts that shape nurses’ outcomes over time as well as considering systems issues that impact healthcare worker outcomes. Her current research projects include secondary analyses of US labor data to explore healthcare worker job mobility and workforce diversity.
