Suzanne Courtwright, PhD, MSN, PNP, RN, NEA-BC is a child health services researcher and pediatric nurse practitioner. Her program of research examines the role of pediatric primary care in child health equity, particularly in adolescents aged 10-24 with chronic conditions. She applies multi-level modeling and mixed methods to better understand workforce factors that impact inequities in access, utilization, quality, and cost. She has a special interest in the pediatric nurse practitioner workforce on reducing these inequities. The aim of her research is to inform health policy.

Dr. Courtwright is a T32 postdoctoral research fellow at Columbia University School of Nursing in the Center for Healthcare Delivery Research and Innovations. Her research is funded by the NIH/National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) and intramural grants. She serves on national advisory boards including AcademyHealth’s Child Health Services research interest group and the Interdisciplinary Research Group on Nursing Issues (IRGNI), and leads the National Pediatric Nurse Scientist Collaborative Taskforce on Child and Adolescent Mental Health. She serves as the co-chair of the Eastern Nursing Research Society (ENRS) Health Services Research interest group and is a board member of the Cabinet on Nursing Practice of her State Nurses Association. She is an active member of the American Academy of Nursing Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science (CANS) and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. She is a recipient of the Humanism in Health care Award from the New Jersey Hospital Association’s Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey.

Dr. Courtwright earned a PhD in Nursing science with a focus on healthcare systems research at the University of Colorado College of Nursing, a Master of Science degree from Columbia University School of Nursing in the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program, and a Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing degree at Syracuse University College of Nursing.
