Sarah is an MD/PhD student at Virginia Commonwealth University, pursuing a PhD in Healthcare Policy and Research. Her research focuses on addressing health disparities and the role of social determinants of health in critically ill patients and patients with substance use disorders. She currently serves as a research assistant evaluating Virginia’s Medicaid program as part of the VCUVirginia Department of Medical Assistance Services partnership. Prior to medical school, she earned a BS in Biochemistry from Yale University, an MS in Biostatistics from UNC-Chapel Hill and worked as a biostatistician in clinical research at Rhode Island Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
