Miriam J. Laugesen, Ph.D. Associate Professor at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, is the author of Fixing Medical Prices: How Physicians are Paid, (Cambridge, Harvard University Press, 2016) and a nationally-recognized expert on physician fees. She is currently a Tow Foundation Faculty Scholar, a past Public Voices Fellow in The Op-Ed Project, and past recipient of a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Investigator Award in Health Policy Research. She serves as faculty lead in the Department of Health Policy and Management responsible for curriculum design and oversight for two masters-level health policy certificates (one departmental, one school-wide), both of which are popular certificates at Mailman.  Laugesen serves on a number of journal editorial boards, and is currently the book review editor for the Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law.
