Eric Barrette, M.A., Ph.D. is Senior Director, Global Health Economics and Policy at Medtronic. In this role he supports the development of evidence to support the coverage, payment, and access to medical technologies. Prior to joining Medtronic he was Director of Research at the Health Care Costs Institute and he has worked as an economic consultant focused on health care and life sciences topics. He is also an instructor in the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management Medical Industry MBA program. Dr. Barrette publishes research on a range of topics including medical technology outcomes research, Medicare payment policy, geographic variation in medical resource use and prices, hospital concentration and price effects, and substance use disorder treatment. 
 
He received his M.A. in Economics from the University of Arizona and a Ph.D. in Health Services Research, Policy, and Administration from the Division of Health Policy and Management at the University of Minnesota.
