Dr. Elizabeth A. Brown is a health services researcher and an assistant professor at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC. She teaches in the online B.S. Health Care Studies Program. Dr. Brown conducts research examining social determinants of health (SDOH), particularly Medicaid, access to care, race/ethnicity, and chronic conditions. Dr. Brown has published studies examining SDOH in various populations, including people living with lupus, people living with spinal cord injury, and veterans. She is also interested in education research exploring privilege as an SDOH with pre-health professionals.

Dr. Brown was a Southern Regional Education Board Fellow (2015-2018) and was recognized for her scholarly work by both AcademyHealth and MUSC. In 2017, AcademyHealth awarded her the Diversity Scholars Network Travel Scholarship. In 2018, MUSC recognized her as a University Honor Graduate. Dr. Brown received her PhD in Health & Rehabilitation Science (health services research track) from MUSC.
