Christy Harris Lemak, Ph.D., FACHE is Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Services Administration in the School of Health Professions at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, home to 10 academic programs in health services research, healthcare administration, health informatics, healthcare quality and safety and healthcare simulation.

Christy teaches and conducts research in the areas of management and leadership, with an emphasis on how leadership and organizational factors can lead to high performance.  She currently focuses on developing organizations where all leaders can thrive. 

Christy is on the boards of the Commission on Accreditation for Health Management Education, Community Hospital Corporation (Plano, TX), and the National Center for Healthcare Leadership.  She is the Past Chair of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration and of the Academy of Management Health Care Management Division.

Before coming to UAB, Christy was on the faculty of the University of Michigan where she directed the Griffith Leadership Center and the University of Florida where she was the Michael O. and Barbara Bice Term Professor of Health Services Research, Management and Policy.   She holds a PhD from the University of Michigan, M.H.A. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a B.S. in Health Planning and Administration from the University of Illinois.
