Call for Abstracts:

The Surgical and Perioperative Care Interest Group call for abstracts is now closed. The 2017 meeting will be held in part as a joint session with the Quality and Value Interest Group. We will share a panel presentation focusing on Team Science – what it takes to build a successful team for investigating delivery and outcomes of surgical care followed by examples of successful multidisciplinary projects.

This panel session will be followed by a set of Works in Progress presentations, where we seek proposals from investigators who have started, but not yet completed, investigations into perioperative care and outcomes. A poster session will provide an opportunity for those new to this interest group area to share their work. Poster topics may have been presented at other regional or national meetings.

Topics: All research focusing on surgical quality, outcomes, workforce issues, and related health policy will be welcomed.

Abstracts from surgeons, anesthesiologists, perioperative nursing, health services research, or related clinical areas are all encouraged. Residents, fellows, and junior faculty are particularly encouraged to apply.

Evaluation Criteria
Submissions will undergo a blind peer review by the Advisory Committee and will be evaluated by the following:

  • Quality and originality;
  • Appropriateness and/or novelty of analytic methods;
  • Implications for the delivery of surgical and perioperative care; and
  • Clarity of writing and presentation.

Submission Deadline: January 27, 2017 at 5:00 p.mE.T.
We encourage you to submit early to ensure prompt confirmation and processing.

Abstracts that are not selected for oral presentation may be selected for poster presentations.

For more information about the call for abstracts, please visit the Interest Group tab on the ARM website or contact AcademyHealth, at interest.group@academyhealth.org.

ARM Call for Abstracts:
AcademyHealth believes the audience for work submitted to an IG is different from the audience at the main meeting, therefore welcomes you to submit your abstract to both calls. However, IG review committees will factor acceptance to the main ARM into their deliberations. An abstract that is accepted for podium presentation in the main ARM will not be permitted to have a podium presentation at an IG meeting but can be considered for an IG poster. Submissions to interest groups must be submitted separately to the specific IG. The deadline for submission to ARM is January 12, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. E.T.
