As can be expected, this week all eyes – ours included – have been on the president's proposed budget for fiscal year (FY) 2018, which we consider an unacceptable assault on health care and public health research. Our full statement is posted online. The budget included devastating cuts to science across the entire federal research enterprise, and if enacted, would significantly hinder (if not obliterate entirely) research agencies' abilities to conduct their essential work. Today, I wanted to provide a recap with all we know so far.
