Dr. Michael Petersen is a transformative Physician Executive with Accenture’s Social Determinants of Health team. Dr. Petersen serves as the Social Determinants of Health Lead which focuses on helping clients solve incredibly complex health problems such as the opioid crisis, maternal mortality, infant mortality, physician/clinician burnout, behavioral health challenges using advanced analytics coupled with the ability to get below the layer of visualized data. He leverages his knowledge in data/analytics, and design thinking to better understand how to bring a person-centered approach to helping solve the social determinants of health.  He is skilled at building culturally relevant ecosystems of partners and  the right technologies to develop unique trusted community engagement solutions that drive improved outcomes. He has well rounded experience with infant and maternal mortality, healthcare innovation, clinical operations, healthcare optimization, health management, wellness & prevention, care value, clinical analytics, EMR/EHR (Cerner/Epic), health information systems and clinical/business operations. 

As a seasoned physician executive, he has more than 15 years of clinical experience as an emergency medicine pediatrician at several St. Louis top regional hospitals where he completed his residency and chief residency at Washington University/BJC St. Louis Children's Hospital.  He developed his proven leadership skills while serving in the United States Army.
