Dr. Curry is Senior Research Scientist at the Yale School of Public Health, Lecturer in Yale College, and core faculty at the Yale Global Health Leadership Institute. Her research focuses on health care access, quality and outcomes in hospital, community and institutional settings in the U.S. and internationally. Recent illustrative projects include the application of positive deviance to improve health care quality, development of a model of diffusion of innovations in health, and exploration of the role of organizational culture in hospital performance. Her work has been supported by a variety of funders including NIH, AHRQ, The Commonwealth Fund, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and The World Bank. Leslie was a member of an advisory committee appointed by the NIH Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research charged with defining best practices in mixed methods research and an elected member of the Board of Directors for the Mixed Methods International Research Association. She has authored two research methods textbooks: Curry & Nunez-Smith, Mixed Methods in Health Sciences Research (2014) by Sage Publications and Curry, Shield & Wetle, Improving Research in Public Health and Aging: Qualitative and Mixed Methods (2006) by American Public Health Association. A Fellow of Branford College at Yale, Leslie teaches extensively and provides mentoring at the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels in public health and medicine.
