Josh Gray is Vice President of athenaResearch, a division within athenahealth.  His responsibilities include developing partnerships with leading academic researchers, foundations and public health agencies; enhancing athenahealth’s disease surveillance capabilities; and tracking the impact of health care reform on the 80,000 health care providers across the athenahealth network.  He also oversees the High Performance Physician Network Initiative, which identifies and disseminates best practices from top performing physician groups using athenahealth software.

Prior to joining athenahealth, Josh worked as a Managing Director in the Research and Insights Division of the Advisory Board Company, a health system consulting and business intelligence company.  While at the Advisory Board Company, Josh oversaw a wide range of membership programs, most recently the Financial Leadership Council and the Imaging Performance Partnership and authored dozens of reports on payment reform, service quality, and health system strategy. 

Josh also worked as a Manager at the Boston Consulting group, a strategic consultancy, where he led consulting teams advising health systems and pharmaceutical companies.  While at the firm, Josh coauthored early work on Disease Management Strategy.

Josh has an MBA in Finance and Health Care Services from the Wharton School of Business and an AB in History from Brown University.
