Dr. Jan Hansen is a seasoned executive with more than twenty-five years’ experience in the health care and pharmaceutical industries. As Vice President of Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research for the newly formed Actavis/Allergan organization, she oversees the development and execution of pharmacoeconomic and outcomes research strategies globally. Under Dr. Hansen’s leadership, teams of Outcomes Researchers produce evidence and tools critical in documenting the humanistic (i.e. quality of life, functional status) and economic outcomes associated with Allergan’s portfolio of products. These outputs are essential components of product value, and are used to support product differentiation and to facilitate market access and reimbursement, in the US and internationally. Dr. Hansen’s pharmacoeconomics and health outcomes expertise were acquired throughout her vast career experiences in patient-based research, health care consulting, sales strategy and execution, and outcomes research. She has held positions of growing responsibility at several well-regarded companies, including PCS-Pharmaceutical Data Services (now CVS-Caremark), NDC Health, Wolters Kluwer Health, and Glaxo Wellcome (now Glaxo Smithkline). Her professional accomplishments have been recognized by several professional organizations, resulting in numerous appointments which have included; the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy Advisory Council, past Chair and current member of the University of Washington College of Pharmacy’s Corporate Advisory Council, Allergan representative to the National Pharmaceutical Council (NPC) Research Committee, member of the Drug Information Association (DIA) Advisory Council of North America, and currently serves on the Foundation of Managed Care Pharmacy’s (FMCP) Board of Trustees. Dr. Hansen is a licensed pharmacist and holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacy Administration from the University of South Carolina at Columbia.
