Deliya Banda Wesley, Ph.D., M.P.H., is a health equity scientist at MedStar Health Research Institute. She is also an assistant professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Wesley has expertise in health disparities focusing on patient-level factors that impact communication and influence health decision-making. Her research examines the unique cultural and contextual factors impacting how racial/ethnic minorities access and utilize health services. She is actively funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality on multiple grants and contracts focused on adapting patient-facing health IT to address the unique needs of diverse populations, especially those from underserved groups and with limited literacy. She has published in peer-reviewed journals, including The Oncologist, and the Journal of Urban Health.

She holds an M.P.H. in epidemiology from The George Washington University School of Public Health and a Ph.D. in behavioral and community health from the University of Maryland School of Public Health.
