Bushra Islam is currently a second-year graduate student receiving her Master’s in Healthcare Administration at The George Washington University and completed a dual degree in Biology and Psychology in the Honors College at The University of South Carolina. Both academic and personal experiences motivated Bushra to pursue a focus in healthcare policy and how to leverage technology and data analytics to improve care coordination and management of chronic illnesses. Bushra interned at eHealth Initiative and Applied Policy to gain a more thorough understanding of the innerworkings of health policy and Health IT with the goal of improving quality, safety, and efficiency of healthcare to better cater to patient needs. She was the Federal Affairs intern with HIMSS and is currently their Congressional Affairs intern; she focuses on developing a strategic plan for the organization, in addition to acting as a liaison between stakeholders, agencies, and Capitol Hill.
