Atheendar Venkataramani is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the Perelman School of Medicine and a board certified general internist at the University of Pennsylvania Presbyterian Medical Center. Dr. Venkataramani's research focuses on the life-course origins of health and socioeconomic inequality both in the United States and abroad. His work examines (1) the effects of early life interventions on adult health and well-being, and the mechanisms underlying these links; (2) the relationship between economic opportunities and health behaviors and outcomes; and (3) the short- and long-run returns of public health and social sector programs, such as the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and Medicaid. Dr. Venkataramani obtained his PhD in Health Policy (Economics) from Yale University in 2009 and his MD from Washington University in St Louis in 2011. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine-Global Primary Care at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in 2015.
