In its State Scorecard on U.S. Health System Performance, The Commonwealth Fund’s Commission on a High Performance Health System found that, while high-performing states performed well on most of the quality measures, overall ALL states have room for significant improvement. States can use the Scorecard to learn where they fall short, and to identify opportunities for improvement. Furthermore, the Scorecard offers states the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the policies and other health system factors that can either contribute to or detract from their quality rating. Armed with this information, state leaders could then stimulate positive action by creating incentives and promoting policies for quality improvement.
