Content: This session reviews the barriers to and possible approaches for enacting universal health care in the US, by reviewing an historical account of the ebb and flow of American health policy over the past 40 years, highlighting for each of the four major eras the critical issues, major programs and policies adopted, major intended/unintended side effects, and intervening political realities.
