June 24, 2017 ǀ New Orleans ǀ 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

The program for the IG meeting is developed by volunteer members of the IG Advisory Committee who are conducting this Call for Abstracts.

Brief Description

The goal of this IG meeting is to offer members a focused environment to learn about research and training related to translation, dissemination, implementation, and impact. Attendees will hear from an array of experts, share leading research and resources related to the translation, communication, and implementation of health services research, receive an IG update from the advisory committee, learn about opportunities to engage with the IG, and network with one another.

Call for Abstracts

The Translation and Communications IG Meeting Call for Abstracts is now closed. The Translation and Communications IG invites submission of abstracts for panel or individual presentations, and poster presentations. Submitted abstracts will undergo blind peer review by a committee of volunteers.

We invite abstracts that focus on the description or evaluation of any of the following four areas:

  • New methods of communicating or disseminating research to improve its understanding, uptake, application and impact;
  • Innovative strategies for engaging diverse stakeholders to improve the adoption and/or implementation of research into policy or practice;
  • Ways in which research is translated, modified, and adapted to fit the needs of practice and policy stakeholders and their unique contexts;
  • Training and/or professional opportunities to improve the translation and communication skills of researchers and/or other stakeholders.

We are particularly interested in presentations that relate to today’s rapidly changing healthcare environment and highlight areas of interest to patients, providers, and policymakers such as value-based care, patient engagement, population health research, and behavioral insights into policy.

Evaluation Criteria
All abstracts will undergo blind peer review and will be evaluated using the following criteria:

  • Relevance of the topic for translation, communication, dissemination, and/or implementation;
  • Quality and originality;
  • Policy timeliness;
  • Clarity of writing and presentation;
  • Appropriateness of techniques and methods; and
  • Assurance that, at a minimum, preliminary results will be available at the time of the June meeting

Note: if results are not available at time of submission, the abstract must include a timeline describing when data will be collected, analyzed, and available for presentation).

Submission Deadline: January 27, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.  E.T.
We encourage you to submit early to ensure prompt confirmation and processing.

Abstracts that are not selected for oral presentation may be selected for poster presentations.

ARM Call for Abstracts:
AcademyHealth believes the audience for work submitted to an IG is different from the audience at the main meeting, therefore welcomes you to submit your abstract to both calls. However, IG review committees will factor acceptance to the main ARM into their deliberations. An abstract that is accepted for podium presentation in the main ARM will not be permitted to have a podium presentation at an IG meeting but can be considered for an IG poster. Submissions to interest groups must be submitted separately to the specific IG. The deadline for submission to ARM is January 12, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. E.T.
