Health Equity Research: Beyond the Sound of One Hand Clapping
Bellagio, Italy
AcademyHealth,
through funding from the Rockefeller Foundation, Nuffield Trust, AHRQ,
and The Commonwealth Fund, organized a workshop in Bellagio, Italy, in
April 2003, titled "Health Equity Research: Beyond the Sound of One
Hand Clapping." The workshop brought together 23 health services
researchers, knowledge brokers and decision makers from three developed
countries (United States, United Kingdom, and Netherlands) and three developing
countries (China, Chile, and South Africa). The focus was on increasing
the use of health equity research in policymaking to improve equitable
access to quality services. Papers produced for this meeting are being
published in several peer review journals.
