Learning From Industrialized Health Systems AcademyHealth has launched a three-year program to expand senior health policy leaders' knowledge of health systems and delivery innovations in other industrialized countries, and to promote the use of this knowledge to advance system improvements in the United States. This initiative grew out of AcademyHealth's International Health Study Tours and is funded by Kaiser Permanente and the National Institute for Health Care Management (NIHCM). The design and development of this international exchange program is guided by an advisory group made up of U.S. and industrialized country health policy experts. The official launch of this program took place during a session on Sunday, June 9 at AcademyHealth's Annual Research Meeting. The Webcast of this session can be viewed here. This project explores specific health policy topics of shared interest in the U.S., Europe, Australia, Canada and Japan. Each year we have a key topic of focus. During the first year, we have selected comparative effectiveness research (CER) as the theme. In year two we will focus on payment innovations. |
