Migration of Nurses

The International Exchange (IE) seeks to inform U.S. policymaking with research and experiences of health systems around the world. The goals of the IE are twofold:

  • To learn from the experiences of other countries who face similar health system challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with other nations to solve global health challenges.

The IE brings together experts from universities, private foundations, and policy centers to provide support that is non-partisan and confidential. The work of the IE includes both AcademyHealth sponsored initiatives and projects commissioned from outside organizations such as U.S. government agencies, international organizations and private organizations. This includes activities such as:

  • Convening expert consultations and workshops;
  • Establishing international working groups to define shared research agendas and managing comparative research projects;
  • Facilitating contact with U.S. or foreign policymakers, opinion leaders, and researchers;
  • Producing working papers on lessons learned for the United States and other countries.
