Overview

The Gender and Health Interest Group is composed of researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and trainees interested in exchanging knowledge, disseminating research findings, informing policy and clinical decisionmaking, building researchers’ skills, and creating a networking opportunity for those who share common goals in understanding how gender affects health services delivery, access, cost, and quality. The Group’s mission is to foster the development of gender-based health services research to improve the quality, efficiency, effectiveness, and outcomes of care and the health status and quality of life for women and men of all ages, races, ethnicities, and socioeconomic positions. This mission will be accomplished by the identification, understanding, and development of strategies to improve the quality and delivery of health services in systems and organizational arrangements that are sensitive to gender-based needs and experiences. In addition, strategies to overcome inequalities in health care between women and men, and among women and among men, will be developed.
