What have you learned from your research? Whether it is a new method or salient finding, come tell your colleagues about it!

I am delighted to invite your abstract submissions for AcademyHealth’s 2012 Annual Research Meeting (ARM), June 24-26 in Orlando. For 28 years, the ARM has been the premier forum for health services research, where we as a field gather to share findings, discuss health policy and practice implications, and network with colleagues from around the world.

The ARM is one of AcademyHealth's "jewels" (the other being the National Health Policy Conference in February). The meeting promotes and expands the availability of robust and relevant evidence for health policy and practice. At the same time, it brings together research producers with research users from various settings, promoting dialogue and research translation.

This year we are seeking papers, panels, and posters on 18 health care themes to showcase the breadth and depth of evidence from our field. We use the abstract submission process to develop more than half of the ARM program. Dana Safran, M.D., Ph.D., is the chair of this year's Planning Committee and the 2012 program brings an added focus on delivery systems transformation and comparative effectiveness research.

Health care policy in all its dimensions - costs, quality, access, disparities - continues to be prominent on the national stage, so I encourage you to submit your work to the ARM call for abstracts by January 12, 2012, to be considered for presentation.

I look forward to seeing your research and learning about your methods and your findings!

Publication Opportunity in JAMA

Abstracts that are submitted to the call for papers and that meet the eligibility criteria of the Journal of the American Medical Association will be considered for a publication opportunity. The top-ranked, peer-reviewed abstracts will be submitted to JAMA by AcademyHealth. JAMA will then review the abstracts and choose from which authors they would like to receive full manuscripts. Those requested will undergo editorial review by JAMA, and, if accepted, will be published during the week of the AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting. For a more detailed description, please view the process timeline. If you have questions, please email Anna LaFayette or call 202.292.6739.
