Health Policy Orientation

AcademyHealth's three-and-a-half day fall orientation offers an in-depth introduction to the key players, formal and informal policymaking processes, and critical health policy issues. The program includes presentations by well-known experts, interactive panels and group discussions, hands-on tutorials, and a congressional site visit. The Orientation is organized with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics.

The Orientation is designed in small-classroom format, with a one-to-one ratio of faculty to participants.  Registration for the Orientation opens on July 17, 2012.

Program objectives:

• To learn the fundamentals of health policy development and implementation.
• To gain an understanding of the Washington health policy environment and its players.
