This skill-building session will provide an overview of national health care databases that are available to answer research questions related to children's health care, with a focus on the survey and administrative databases from the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). The strengths and limitations of the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NHAMCS), Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS), and the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP) will be discussed.
