The fourth Child Health Services Research meeting was a one-day meeting held on June 22, 2002 in Washington, DC, just prior to the AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting. The meeting drew 200 participants mostly from the fields of child health services research and health policy. Beginning at 10:00 a.m., the meeting opened with registration and an opportunity for participants to network while enjoying a continental breakfast. Next, Jim Perrin delivered the keynote address, "A Vision of the Future of Child Health Services Research." Throughout the day, participants chose from 12 breakout sessions that featured 55 faculty members and were organized into three sets of four concurrent sessions. The 2002 HSC Foundation Award was presented at a luncheon that included a presentation on "Community-Focused Child Health Services Research" by Tom Chapman with the HSC Foundation. In addition, all participants were invited to attend a reception and poster session sponsored by the National Research Service Award program.
