The American Medical Association (AMA) seeks a candidate with research skills in one of the above areas to join our Measure Testing and Evaluation team. This group provides technical expertise and analytical skills to critically evaluate measures of cost of care, efficiency of care, and value of care; conducts research on the potential impacts of quality measures on health care costs, utilization and access; and develops methodologies to integrate clinical quality measures developed by the AMA-convened Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement (PCPI) into measures of clinical efficiency. Publication and participation in professional conferences are encouraged.

Requirements:

• Master's degree in health services research, economics, statistics, finance, clinical field, or other related field required; doctoral degree preferred.
  
• Strong research and analytical skills as demonstrated through dissertation/thesis work, publications, reports, and other professional activities.
  
• Familiarity with hospital and physician clinical performance measures; cost and efficiency measures; episode grouper methodologies; clinical coding and hospital and physician reimbursement; knowledge of case-mix methodologies.
  
• Familiarity with national organizations involved in health care quality assessment and improvement including the Joint Commission, NCQA, NQF, AHRQ, AQA, medical boards, medical specialty societies required.
  
• Demonstrated ability to work independently; as well as be a team player.
  
• Excellent communication skills.
  
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to coordinate projects.
  
• Some occasional overtime and travel is required.
