Earlier today, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Director Dr. Richard Kronick will be leaving his position with the agency on March 18, 2016, at which time AHRQ Deputy Director Dr. Sharon Arnold will become the acting director.

As the professional home for health services research and the Friends of AHRQ, AcademyHealth greatly appreciates all that Dr. Kronick has done since becoming AHRQ Director in August 2013 to advance AHRQ's mission to produce evidence that makes health care safer, of higher quality, and more accessible, equitable and affordable. A longtime AcademyHealth member and distinguished researcher, Dr. Kronick has been an unrelenting champion for the high-quality, high value health care that is rooted in research and evidence. His passion for contributing to a better health care system for all Americans is one which we should all strive to emulate.

AcademyHealth thanks Dr. Kronick for his many contributions over the years and wishes him well in his next endeavor. We look forward to continuing our work with Dr. Arnold and the rest of the AHRQ team as we strive to understand and improve our health care system and achieve better outcomes for more people at greater value.
