Presentation of cutting-edge health services research is the cornerstone of the AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting (ARM), offering opportunities for researchers to share important findings with policymakers and providers who can put the research into action. This year's ARM is organized around 22 themes. All abstract and panel submissions undergo blind peer review. Abstracts selected for oral or poster presentation will be posted on the AcademyHealth Web site.

2008 Frequently Asked Questions
Call for Abstracts Brochure 
Abstracts are invited for three categories: (1) call for papers, (2) call for posters, and (3) call for panels.
Call for Papers:
- Abstracts may be submitted to only one of the 22 themes.
- Abstracts will undergo blind peer review by theme committees.
- The number of sessions per theme is proportionate to the number of abstracts submitted to the theme.
- Abstracts not selected for paper presentation will automatically be considered for poster presentation.
- Abstracts submitted to the Call for Papers may NOT be submitted to the Call for Posters.
- Both quantitative and qualitative research will be considered.
- Evaluation criteria: (1) quality and originality; (2) potential significance to disciplinary theory or application to health services management, policy, or clinical practice; (3) timeliness; (4) clarity of writing and presentation; (5) completed or nearly completed research; and (6) relevance to theme.
Call for Posters:
- Abstracts may be submitted to either the general or student poster program on any health services research or health policy topic.
- Posters will be presented at one of three poster sessions.
- An abstract submitted to the Call for Posters may NOT be submitted to the Call for Papers.
- Evaluation criteria: the first five criteria for the call for papers (see above).
Student Posters:
- To participate in the student poster program, the submitter must be officially enrolled in a graduate program on January 15, 2008, the submission deadline.
- To be considered for the student poster award, the abstract must be submitted as a student poster.
Call for Panels:
- Proposals for 90-minute sessions include an overview and three to five abstracts.
- The overview must be 250 words or less and not reveal the names of panelists.
- The panel submission must include three to five attached abstracts.
- Panel topics may be unrelated to the meeting themes (e.g., ethics, genomics).
- Individual abstracts not selected for panels will NOT be considered for poster presentation.
- Evaluation criteria: the first five criteria for the call for papers (see above) and cohesiveness of individual abstracts around the central topic described in the overview.
