relies on multiple sources of funding to carry out its mission of advancing
research, policy, and practice. In 2003, 41 percent of our revenue came
from foundation grants, and 34 percent came from federal grants and
contracts. The remainder was generated through membership dues, meeting
registrations and fees, and other investments and contributions. As
shown in the second graph pictured below, our revenue exceeded our expenses
by a modest amount last year, enabling us to add to our reserves.
