David Padgham is a senior associate at AcademyHealth and managing editor for eGEMs, AcademyHealth’s peer-reviewed, open access journal that seeks to accelerate research and quality improvement using electronic health data.

Prior to joining AcademyHealth, Mr. Padgham worked as an independent researcher, writer, and editor for a variety of clients in technology, healthcare, and public policy, and spent more than a year teaching English at a university in Quito, Ecuador. Earlier in his career, Mr. Padgham was an associate program officer with the National Academy of Science’s Computer Science and Telecommunications Board (CSTB), where, among other things, he worked as part of the team that produced the Computational Technology for Effective Health Care report. He has also worked as a policy analyst with the ACM and AMIA, and as a policy director with the Council on Competitiveness. He holds a master's degree in library and information science from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and a bachelor of arts degree in English from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina.
