Emily J. Holubowich Emily J. Holubowich is the director of government relations for the Coalition for Health Services Research, the advocacy arm of AcademyHealth. In this capacity, Mrs. Holubowich leads the Coalition in advocating for increased funding for federal agencies that support health services research and health statistics, advising federal agencies on appropriate funding levels, and mobilizing other stakeholders in the health community. In addition, she is responsible for tracking legislation that is relevant to the health services research community and empowering AcademyHealth members by connecting them to their congressional representatives. Mrs. Holubowich came to AcademyHealth three years ago as a senior associate in AcademyHealth's Office of the President where she worked with teams across the organization to support a wide range of AcademyHealth initiatives, including assisting advocacy efforts for the Coalition. Previously, Mrs. Holubowich served for five years as a health policy analyst with the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), where she conducted research and developed written reports and testimony for Congress on myriad health policy issues, including clinical trials, drug safety, HIPAA coding standards, group purchasing models, and hospital community benefits. In addition, she served as special assistant to the health care team's managing director, facilitating organizational change within the team and managing various projects, including the Comptroller General's appointment of members to the Citizens' Health Care Working Group. Mrs. Holubowich holds a master's degree in public policy (emphasis in health policy and management) from The Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor's degree in Political Science and English (emphasis in writing and communications) from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
