Health Services and Sciences Research Resources (HSRR)

The National Library of Medicine's Health Services Research Resources (HSRR) is a searchable database of research datasets, instruments/indices, and software. Users may review data and compare characteristics across datasets. Examples of HSRR data sources include: clinical records, discharge summaries, claims records, epidemiological surveys, surveys, and registries.

The HSRR database includes brief descriptions of research resources and links to PubMed.  Each HSRR record contains information about the content and format of the resource, including information on data accessibility (e.g., provider or vendor contact information, costs and restrictions on use) and methodology (e.g., sample size, units of analysis, data collection). Relevant published references about resources are accessible where available.

There are three types of records in HSRR:
1) Datasets
2) Instruments/Indices
3) Software

HSRR is not a repository of the actual resources.

You may search for datasets using HSRR

See the full list of the current HSRR data sets in alphabetical order in a pdf (as of December 5, 2008).

See the separate list of Public Health Services Research (PHSR) data sets.
