11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Health Care Reform and Mental Health: Stakeholder Perspectives and Strategies Co-Chairs: Kavita Patel, Executive Office of the President; Kenneth Wells, University of California, Los Angeles Panelists: Dominic Hodgkin, Brandeis University; Haiden Huskamp, Harvard Medical School; Felicia Jones, Healthy African American Families; Benjamin Miller, University of Colorado, Denver School of Medicine Roundtable: This panel will review the experiences of different types of health care stakeholders in addressing mental health services as part of possible health care reform. The stakeholders will include health consumer advocates helping to shape expanded access in Massachusetts, developers of a medical home concept for mental health, a community representative from South Los Angeles, and an academic health policy researcher active in mental health parity and health care reform, as well as the moderators representing academic and policy perspectives. The panelists will discuss the requirements and challenges in meeting mental health needs in the current system and economy, and lessons learned from current health care reform debates and health services research.
