Provisions contained within the Affordable Care Act call for increased attention to and investment in population health. However, with an increase in covered individuals and an increase in preventive services being offered through such coverage, services traditionally provided by the public health sector will now be provided through the health care system. As a result, state and local health departments may need to transform in order to stay relevant in this new health reform environment. This session will explore the state, local, and carrier perspectives on the ACA’s vision for population health, and propose recommendations for how the public health community could be an effective partner in health system transformation. |
