HSR Impact Award: Call for Nominations

AcademyHealth requests nominations of health services research that has made a positive impact on health policy and/or practice. The lead researcher of the winning impact will receive $2,000, and the research will be disseminated widely as part of AcademyHealth's ongoing efforts to promote the field of health services research and communicate its value for health care decision-making. The award will be announced at the 2010 National Health Policy Conference on February 8-9, and the winner will receive complimentary registration, travel and lodging to the conference.

Nomination Deadline: Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Eligibility Criteria

• Research may be published or unpublished, a single study or a body of work, the work of an individual or a team.
• Time frame for when the research was conducted is open, but the impact should have occurred recently.
• Nominators and nominees are not required to be AcademyHealth members
• Self-nominations will be accepted.

Selection Criteria

Each nomination will be evaluated on:

• Quality of research;
• Effectiveness of research dissemination and translation approach; and
• Impact of the research.

Nominations may be sent to AcademyHealth by mail, email or fax. Only complete nominations that comply with the application instructions will be reviewed. Nominations must be received at AcademyHealth by Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Nominators will be notified by October 30, 2009. Email awards@academyhealth.org with any questions.  

Your nomination must include:

• Summary describing the research used, the translation approach, and the impact on policy and/or practice (no more than 500 words; do not include charts, appendices, or attachments);
• Letter from the principal user of this research specifically describing the impact of the research on policy and/or practice (no more than 500 words; only one letter is permitted); and
• Nomination form with contact information for the nominator, lead researcher, and user of research.
